  • 1 Sam 22:8-9 : 8 That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that shows me that my son has made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or shows to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day? 9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. 10 And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine. 11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they all came to the king. 12 And Saul said, Hear now, you son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord. 13 And Saul said to him, Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day? 14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house? 15 Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? Far be it from me: let not the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for your servant knew nothing of all this, little or much. 16 And the king said, You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you, and all your father's house. 17 And the king said to the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to attack the priests of the LORD. 18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn you, and attack the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and killed on that day eighty-five persons that wore a linen ephod. 19 And Nob, the city of the priests, he struck with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and nursing infants, and oxen, and donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword. 20 And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David. 21 And Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the LORD'S priests. 22 And David said to Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have caused the death of all the persons of your father's house. 23 Stay with me, fear not: for he that seeks my life seeks your life: but with me you shall be safe.
  • 1 Sam 23:19-23 : 19 Then the Ziphites went up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strongholds in the forest, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon? 20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand. 21 And Saul said, Blessed be you of the LORD; for you have compassion on me. 22 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there; for it is told me that he deals very subtly. 23 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and come again to me with certainty, and I will go with you; and it shall come to pass, if he is in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.
  • 2 Sam 3:7-9 : 7 And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah. And Ishbosheth said to Abner, Why have you gone in to my father's concubine? 8 Then Abner was very angry for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, that against Judah I show kindness this day unto the house of Saul your father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David, that you charge me today with a fault concerning this woman? 9 God do so to Abner, and more also, unless, as the LORD has sworn to David, even so I do to him; 10 To transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba. 11 And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.
  • 2 Sam 4:5-9 : 5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came during the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who was lying on a bed at noon. 6 And they came there into the midst of the house, as though they were fetching wheat; and they struck him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped. 7 For when they came into the house, he was lying on his bed in his bedchamber, and they struck him, and killed him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and went away through the plain all night. 8 And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David at Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul your enemy, who sought your life; and the LORD has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his descendants. 9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity, 10 When someone told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking he was bringing good news, I took hold of him, and killed him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his news. 11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house on his bed? Shall I not therefore now require his blood from your hand, and remove you from the earth? 12 And David commanded his young men, and they killed them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hung them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the tomb of Abner in Hebron.
  • 1 Kgs 21:11-13 : 11 And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants of his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, and as it was written in the letters she had sent to them. 12 They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. 13 And two men, worthless fellows, came in and sat before him; and the men bore witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth blasphemed God and the king. Then they carried him out of the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died.

Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who raised them. 7 And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and killed seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him at Jezreel.
