16“At this time tomorrow I will send to you a man from the land of Benjamin. You must consecrate him as a leader over my people Israel. He will save my people from the hand of the Philistines. For I have looked with favor on my people. Their cry has reached me!”
17When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said,“Here is the man that I told you about! He will rule over my people.”
13Then Samuel said to Saul,“You have made a foolish choice! You have not obeyed the commandment that the LORD your God gave you. Had you done that, the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever!
14But now your kingdom will not continue! The LORD has sought out for himself a man who is loyal to him and the LORD has appointed him to be leader over his people, for you have not obeyed what the LORD commanded you.”
20Now, my master, O king, all Israel is watching anxiously to see who is named to succeed my master the king on the throne.
10namely, to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and to establish the throne of David over Israel and over Judah all the way from Dan to Beer Sheba!”
4The LORD God of Israel chose me out of my father’s entire family to become king over Israel and have a permanent dynasty. Indeed, he chose Judah as leader, and my father’s family within Judah, and then he picked me out from among my father’s sons and made me king over all Israel.

10and during the time when I appointed judges to lead my people Israel. I will subdue all your enemies.“‘“I declare to you that the LORD will build a dynastic house for you!
11When the time comes for you to die, I will raise up your descendant, one of your own sons, to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom.
15You have kept your word to your servant, my father David; this very day you have fulfilled what you promised.
16Now, O LORD God of Israel, keep the promise you made to your servant, my father David, when you said,‘You will never fail to have a successor ruling before me on the throne of Israel, provided that your descendants watch their step and obey my law as you have done.’
2David replied to Achish,“That being the case, you will come to know what your servant can do!” Achish said to David,“Then I will make you my bodyguard from now on.”
13Saul removed David from his presence and made him a commanding officer. David led the army out to battle and back.
8May the LORD your God be praised because he favored you by placing you on his throne as the one ruling on his behalf! Because of your God’s love for Israel and his lasting commitment to them, he made you king over them so you could make just and right decisions.”
9He appointed him king over Gilead, the Geshurites, Jezreel, Ephraim, Benjamin, and all Israel.
25Now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep the promise you made to your servant, my father David, when you said,‘You will never fail to have a successor ruling before me on the throne of Israel, provided that your descendants watch their step and serve me as you have done.’
8I tore the kingdom away from the Davidic dynasty and gave it to you. But you are not like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me wholeheartedly by doing only what I approve.
16He told David,‘Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a temple in which to live. But I have chosen David to lead my people Israel.’
19But today you have rejected your God who saves you from all your trouble and distress. You have said,“No! Appoint a king over us.” Now take your positions before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans.’”
