    11 Nathan said to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother,“Has it been reported to you that Haggith’s son Adonijah has become king behind our master David’s back?

    12 Now let me give you some advice as to how you can save your life and your son Solomon’s life.

    30 I will keep today the oath I swore to you by the LORD God of Israel:‘Surely Solomon your son will be king after me; he will sit in my place on my throne.’”

    32 King David said,“Summon Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king,

    17 He said,“Please ask King Solomon if he would give me Abishag the Shunammite as a wife, for he won’t refuse you.”

    20 She said,“I would like to ask you for just one small favor. Please don’t refuse me.” He said,“Go ahead and ask, my mother, for I would not refuse you.”

    2 One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of his palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. Now this woman was very attractive.

    3 So David sent someone to inquire about the woman. The messenger said,“Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”

    4 David sent some messengers to get her. She came to him and he went to bed with her.(Now at that time she was in the process of purifying herself from her menstrual uncleanness.) Then she returned to her home.

    5 The woman conceived and then sent word to David saying,“I’m pregnant.”

    6 So David sent a message to Joab that said,“Send me Uriah the Hittite.” So Joab sent Uriah to David.

    13 Haggith’s son Adonijah visited Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. She asked,“Do you come in peace?” He answered,“Yes.”

    14 He added,“I have something to say to you.” She replied,“Speak.”
