    12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out loudly. The woman said to Saul,“Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!”

    13 The king said to her,“Don’t be afraid! What have you seen?” The woman replied to Saul,“I have seen a divine spirit coming up from the ground!”

    14 He said to her,“What about his appearance?” She said,“An old man is coming up! He is wrapped in a robe!”Then Saul realized it was Samuel, and he bowed his face toward the ground and kneeled down.

    15 Samuel said to Saul,“Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul replied,“I am terribly troubled! The Philistines are fighting against me and God has turned away from me. He does not answer me anymore– not by the prophets nor by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what I should do.”

    10 The king said,“Bring to me whoever speaks to you, and he won’t bother you again!”

    44 Saul said,“God will punish me severely if Jonathan doesn’t die!”

    45 But the army said to Saul,“Should Jonathan, who won this great victory in Israel, die? May it never be! As surely as the LORD lives, not a single hair of his head will fall to the ground! For it is with the help of God that he has acted today.” So the army rescued Jonathan from death.

    22 David promised Saul this on oath. Then Saul went to his house, and David and his men went up to the stronghold.

    39 For as surely as the LORD, the deliverer of Israel, lives, even if it turns out to be my own son Jonathan, he will certainly die!” But no one from the army said anything.

  • 3 Now Samuel had died, and all Israel had lamented over him and had buried him in Ramah, his hometown. In the meantime Saul had removed the mediums and magicians from the land.

  • 21 Saul replied,“I have sinned. Come back, my son David. I won’t harm you anymore, for you treated my life with value this day. I have behaved foolishly and have made a very terrible mistake!”

  • 10 Today your own eyes see how the LORD delivered you– this very day– into my hands in the cave. Some told me to kill you, but I had pity on you and said,‘I will not extend my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD’s chosen one.’

  • 6 So Saul inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him– not by dreams nor by Urim nor by the prophets.

  • 26 She said,“My lord. Just as surely as you are alive, my lord, I am the woman who previously stood here with you in order to pray to the LORD.

  • 13 Saul said to him,“Why have you conspired against me, you and this son of Jesse? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God on his behalf, so that he opposes me and waits in ambush, as is the case today!”

  • 24 In the same way that I valued your life this day, may the LORD value my life and deliver me from all danger.”

  • 13 Then Samuel said to Saul,“You have made a foolish choice! You have not obeyed the commandment that the LORD your God gave you. Had you done that, the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever!

  • 17 Saul said to Michal,“Why have you deceived me this way by sending my enemy away? Now he has escaped!” Michal replied to Saul,“He said to me,‘Help me get away or else I will kill you!’”

  • 14 Therefore I swore an oath to the house of Eli,‘The sin of the house of Eli can never be forgiven by sacrifice or by grain offering.’”
