19All the people said to Samuel,“Pray to the LORD your God on behalf of us– your servants– so we won’t die, for we have added to all our sins by asking for a king.”
10The Israelites cried out for help to the LORD:“We have sinned against you. We abandoned our God and worshiped the Baals.”
21So Samuel listened to everything the people said and then reported it to the LORD.
11But Samuel said,“What have you done?” Saul replied,“When I saw that the army had started to abandon me and that you didn’t come at the appointed time and that the Philistines had assembled at Micmash,

30Saul again replied,“I have sinned. But please honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel. Go back with me so I may worship the LORD your God.”
