3Absalom would then say to him,“Look, your claims are legitimate and appropriate. But there is no representative of the king who will listen to you.”

20Then Absalom said to Ahithophel,“Give us your advice. What should we do?”
22So Abner spoke again to Asahel,“Turn aside from following me! I do not want to strike you to the ground. How then could I show my face in the presence of Joab your brother?”
9At this very moment he is hiding out in one of the caves or in some other similar place. If it should turn out that he attacks our troops first, whoever hears about it will say,‘Absalom’s army has been slaughtered!’
30When Benaiah arrived at the tent of the LORD, he said to him,“The king says,‘Come out!’” But he replied,“No, I will die here!” So Benaiah sent word to the king and reported Joab’s reply.
31The king told him,“Do as he said! Strike him down and bury him. Take away from me and from my father’s family the guilt of Joab’s murderous, bloody deeds.
