1Now Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.

14God said to Moses,“I AM that I AM.” And he said,“You must say this to the Israelites,‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
15God also said to Moses,“You must say this to the Israelites,‘The LORD– the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob– has sent me to you. This is my name forever, and this is my memorial from generation to generation.’

31When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight, and when he approached to investigate, there came the voice of the Lord,

33But the Lord said to him,‘Take the sandals off your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.
34I have certainly seen the suffering of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their groaning, and I have come down to rescue them. Now come, I will send you to Egypt.’

3I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name‘the LORD’ I was not known to them.

9Then Jacob prayed,“O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, you said to me,‘Return to your land and to your relatives and I will make you prosper.’

53May the God of Abraham and the god of Nahor, the gods of their father, judge between us.” Jacob took an oath by the God whom his father Isaac feared.
2“Speak to the Israelites and tell them,‘I am the LORD your God!
10I said to you,“I am the LORD your God! Do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living!” But you have disobeyed me.’”
1The LORD said to Moses,“Go up from here, you and the people whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying,‘I will give it to your descendants.’
16Tell him,‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you to say,“Release my people, that they may serve me in the wilderness!” But until now you have not listened.
1The Source of Sufficiency Moses answered again,“And if they do not believe me or pay attention to me, but say,‘The LORD has not appeared to you’?”
20But he added,“You cannot see my face, for no one can see me and live.”
17Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their place at the foot of the mountain.
24The LORD appeared to him that night and said,“I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”
