11Lot chose for himself the whole region of the Jordan and traveled toward the east. So the relatives separated from each other.
12Abram settled in the land of Canaan, but Lot settled among the cities of the Jordan plain and pitched his tents next to Sodom.

18So Abram moved his tents and went to live by the oaks of Mamre in Hebron, and he built an altar to the LORD there.
27Abraham got up early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before the LORD.
28He looked out toward Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land of that region. As he did so, he saw the smoke rising up from the land like smoke from a furnace.
29So when God destroyed the cities of the region, God honored Abraham’s request. He removed Lot from the midst of the destruction when he destroyed the cities Lot had lived in.
1The Obedience of Abram Now the LORD said to Abram,“Go out from your country, your relatives, and your father’s household to the land that I will show you.
1Abram’s Solution to the Strife So Abram went up from Egypt into the Negev. He took his wife and all his possessions with him, as well as Lot.
7The LORD appeared to Abram and said,“To your descendants I will give this land.” So Abram built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
5Now Lot, who was traveling with Abram, also had flocks, herds, and tents.
17When they had brought them outside, they said,“Run for your lives! Don’t look behind you or stop anywhere in the valley! Escape to the mountains or you will be destroyed!”
13and the LORD stood at its top. He said,“I am the LORD, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the ground you are lying on.
14Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. And so all the families of the earth may receive blessings through you and through your descendants.
4On the third day Abraham caught sight of the place in the distance.
1The Cutting of the Covenant After these things the LORD’s message came to Abram in a vision:“Fear not, Abram! I am your shield and the one who will reward you in great abundance.”
2But Abram said,“O Sovereign LORD, what will you give me since I continue to be childless, and my heir is Eliezer of Damascus?”
22But Abram replied to the king of Sodom,“I raise my hand to the LORD, the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth, and vow
3And he journeyed from place to place from the Negev as far as Bethel. He returned to the place where he had pitched his tent at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai.
16Abraham Pleads for Sodom When the men got up to leave, they looked out over Sodom.(Now Abraham was walking with them to see them on their way.)
17Then the LORD said,“Should I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?
18After all, Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations on the earth may receive blessing through him.
5The LORD took him outside and said,“Gaze into the sky and count the stars– if you are able to count them!” Then he said to him,“So will your descendants be.”
12They also took Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions when they left, for Lot was living in Sodom.
7The LORD said to him,“I am the LORD who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”
18That day the LORD made a covenant with Abram:“To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates River–
2Abraham looked up and saw three men standing across from him. When he saw them he ran from the entrance of the tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.
22The two men turned and headed toward Sodom, but Abraham was still standing before the LORD.
3and said to him,‘Go out from your country and from your relatives, and come to the land I will show you.’
4So Abram left, just as the LORD had told him to do, and Lot went with him.(Now Abram was 75 years old when he departed from Haran.)
27Go up to the top of Pisgah and take a good look to the west, north, south, and east, for you will not be allowed to cross the Jordan.
