29If you take this one from me too and an accident happens to him, then you will bring down my gray hair in tragedy to the grave.’
30“So now, when I return to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us– his very life is bound up in his son’s life.
31When he sees the boy is not with us, he will die, and your servants will bring down the gray hair of your servant our father in sorrow to the grave.
32Indeed, your servant pledged security for the boy with my father, saying,‘If I do not bring him back to you, then I will bear the blame before my father all my life.’
33“So now, please let your servant remain as my lord’s slave instead of the boy. As for the boy, let him go back with his brothers.
34For how can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? I couldn’t bear to see my father’s pain.”
28You didn’t even allow me to kiss my daughters and my grandchildren goodbye. You have acted foolishly!
29I have the power to do you harm, but the God of your father told me last night,‘Be careful that you neither bless nor curse Jacob.’

27“Then your servant my father said to us,‘You know that my wife gave me two sons.

17But Joseph said,“Far be it from me to do this! The man in whose hand the cup was found will become my slave, but the rest of you may go back to your father in peace.”

15Then Laban said to Jacob,“Should you work for me for nothing because you are my relative? Tell me what your wages should be.”
23Now swear to me right here in God’s name that you will not deceive me, my children, or my descendants. Show me, and the land where you are staying, the same loyalty that I have shown you.”
8So now, it is not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me an adviser to Pharaoh, lord over all his household, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
31Then Joseph said to his brothers and his father’s household,“I will go up and tell Pharaoh,‘My brothers and my father’s household who were in the land of Canaan have come to me.
49Now, if you will show faithful love to my master, tell me. But if not, tell me as well, so that I may go on my way.”
13But Jacob said to him,“My lord knows that the children are young, and that I have to look after the sheep and cattle that are nursing their young. If they are driven too hard for even a single day, all the animals will die.
19My lord asked his servants,‘Do you have a father or a brother?’
66The servant told Isaac everything that had happened.
