1The Lord’s Discipline Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us,
2keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
9Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them.
9But concerning the one who lacks such things– he is blind. That is to say, he is nearsighted, since he has forgotten about the cleansing of his past sins.
10Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of your calling and election. For by doing this you will never stumble into sin.
12Keep Going Forward Not that I have already attained this– that is, I have not already been perfected– but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me.
13Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single-minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead,
6For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
1So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.
2And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation,

14So we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.
6Some have strayed from these and turned away to empty discussion.
5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith excellence, to excellence, knowledge;
6to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness;
21equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
11Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.

20If you have died with Christ to the elemental spirits of the world, why do you submit to them as though you lived in the world?
22let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.
23And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.
24And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works,
19So then, let us pursue what makes for peace and for building up one another.
14For we have become partners with Christ, if in fact we hold our initial confidence firm until the end.
19Drawing Near to God in Enduring Faith Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,
26For if we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins is left for us,
1Jesus and Moses Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,

1God’s Promised Rest Therefore we must be wary that, while the promise of entering his rest remains open, none of you may seem to have come short of it.
11For no one can lay any foundation other than what is being laid, which is Jesus Christ.
