6So now, Jeremiah said,“The LORD’s message came to me,
7‘Hanamel, the son of your uncle Shallum, will come to you soon. He will say to you,“Buy my field at Anathoth because you are entitled as my closest relative to buy it.”’
8And then my cousin Hanamel did come to me in the courtyard of the guardhouse in keeping with the LORD’s message. He said to me,‘Buy my field which is at Anathoth in the territory of the tribe of Benjamin. Buy it for yourself since you are entitled as my closest relative to take possession of it for yourself.’ When this happened, I recognized that the LORD had indeed spoken to me.
9So I bought the field at Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel. I weighed out seven ounces of silver and gave it to him to pay for it.
10I signed the deed of purchase, sealed it, and had some men serve as witnesses to the purchase. I weighed out the silver for him on a scale.
43You and your people are saying that this land will become desolate, uninhabited by either people or animals. You are saying that it will be handed over to the Babylonians. But fields will again be bought in this land.
44Fields will again be bought with silver, and deeds of purchase signed, sealed, and witnessed. This will happen in the territory of Benjamin, the villages surrounding Jerusalem, the towns in Judah, the southern hill country, the foothills, and southern Judah. For I will restore them to their land. I, the LORD, affirm it!’”
25The city is sure to fall into the hands of the Babylonians. Yet, in spite of this, you, Sovereign LORD, have said to me,“Buy that field with silver and have the transaction legally witnessed.”’”
26The Lord Answers Jeremiah’s Prayer The LORD’s message came to Jeremiah.
32Then Jeremiah got another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah. As Jeremiah dictated, Baruch wrote on this scroll everything that had been on the scroll that King Jehoiakim of Judah burned in the fire. They also added on this scroll several other messages of the same kind.
17Then they asked Baruch,“How did you come to write all these words? Do they actually come from Jeremiah’s mouth?”
18Baruch answered,“Yes, they came from his own mouth. He dictated all these words to me and I wrote them down in ink on this scroll.”
4So Jeremiah summoned Baruch son of Neriah. Then, Baruch wrote down in a scroll all of the LORD’s words which he had told to Jeremiah as they came from his mouth.
5Then Jeremiah told Baruch,“I am no longer allowed to go into the LORD’s temple.
2Then I will summon as my reliable witnesses Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jeberekiah.”

27Baruch and Jeremiah Write Another Scroll The LORD’s message came to Jeremiah after the king had burned the scroll with the words Baruch had written down at Jeremiah’s dictation.
28“Get another scroll and write on it everything that was written on the original scroll that King Jehoiakim of Judah burned.
2So I paid fifteen shekels of silver and about seven bushels of barley to purchase her.
14All the officials sent Jehudi, who was the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch. They ordered him to tell Baruch,“Come here and bring with you the scroll you read in the hearing of the people.” So Baruch son of Neriah went to them, carrying the scroll in his hand.
15They said to him,“Please sit down and read it to us.” So Baruch sat down and read it to them.
8So Baruch son of Neriah did exactly what the prophet Jeremiah had told him to do. He read what the LORD had said from the scroll in the temple of the LORD.
5So I went and buried them at Perath as the LORD had ordered me to do.
6Many days later the LORD said to me,“Go at once to Perath and get the shorts I ordered you to bury there.”
7So I went to Perath and dug up the shorts from the place where I had buried them. I found that they were ruined; they were good for nothing.
8Then the LORD’s message came to me,
20The officials put the scroll in the room of Elishama, the royal secretary, for safekeeping. Then they went to the court and reported everything to the king.
21The king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. He went and got it from the room of Elishama, the royal secretary. Then he himself read it to the king and all the officials who were standing around him.
6The LORD said to me,“Announce all the following words in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem:‘Listen to the terms of my covenant with you and carry them out!
10He unrolled it before me, and it had writing on the front and back; written on it were laments, mourning, and woe.
2“The LORD God of Israel says,‘Write everything that I am about to tell you in a scroll.
7So I did just as I was commanded. I carried out my belongings packed for exile during the day, and at evening I dug myself a hole through the wall with my hands. I went out in the darkness, carrying my baggage on my shoulder while they watched.
26“Take this scroll of the law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God. It will remain there as a witness against you,
