Jeremiah 35:7

Do not build houses. Do not plant crops. Do not plant a vineyard or own one. Live in tents all your lives. If you do these things you will live a long time in the land that you wander about on.’

  • 11Therefore, because you make the poor pay taxes on their crops and exact a grain tax from them, you will not live in the houses you built with chiseled stone, nor will you drink the wine from the fine vineyards you planted.

  • 13The Festival of Temporary Shelters You must celebrate the Feast of Shelters for seven days, at the time of the grain and grape harvest.

  • 12Therefore do not give your daughters in marriage to their sons, and do not take their daughters in marriage for your sons. Do not ever seek their peace or welfare, so that you may be strong and may eat the good of the land and may leave it as an inheritance for your children forever.’

  • 3You must not do as they do in the land of Egypt where you have been living, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan into which I am about to bring you; you must not walk in their statutes.

  • 9and that you may enjoy long life in the land the LORD promised to give to your ancestors and their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.

  • 12Be careful not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it become a snare among you.

  • 21When you gather the grapes of your vineyard you must not do so a second time; they should go to the resident foreigner, orphan, and widow.
