5Are your days like the days of a mortal, or your years like the years of a mortal,
6that you must search out my iniquity, and inquire about my sin,
7Your beginning will seem so small, since your future will flourish.
8“For inquire now of the former generation, and pay attention to the findings of their ancestors;
3you asked,‘Who is this who darkens counsel without knowledge?’ But I have declared without understanding things too wonderful for me to know.
4You said,‘Pay attention, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me.’
27Look, we have investigated this, so it is true. Hear it, and apply it for your own good.”
7Now they come into being, not in the past; before today you did not hear about them, so you could not say,‘Yes, I know about them.’
8You did not hear, you do not know, you were not told beforehand. For I know that you are very deceitful; you were labeled a rebel from birth.
29Have you never questioned those who travel the roads? Do you not recognize their accounts–
3I also have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know such things as these?

20God Alone Has Wisdom“But wisdom– where does it come from? Where is the place of understanding?
10Do not say,“Why were the old days better than these days?” for it is not wise to ask that.
5Since man’s days are determined, the number of his months is under your control; you have set his limit and he cannot pass it.
33Is it your opinion that God should recompense it, because you reject this? But you must choose, and not I, so tell us what you know.
12No Price Can Buy Wisdom“But wisdom– where can it be found? Where is the place of understanding?
3Do you fix your eye on such a one? And do you bring me before you for judgment?
21Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told to you since the very beginning? Have you not understood from the time the earth’s foundations were made?
5Just as you do not know the path of the wind, or how the bones form in the womb of a pregnant woman, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
15Will you keep to the old path that evil men have walked–
37Who by wisdom can count the clouds, and who can tip over the water jars of heaven,
17And life will be brighter than the noonday; though there be darkness, it will be like the morning.
13But you have said,‘What does God know? Does he judge through such deep darkness?
3How you have advised the one without wisdom, and abundantly revealed your insight!
