7So they got up and fled at dusk, leaving behind their tents, horses, and donkeys. They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives.
8When the men with a skin disease reached the edge of the camp, they entered a tent and had a meal. They also took some silver, gold, and clothes and went and hid it all. Then they went back and entered another tent. They looted it and went and hid what they had taken.

11Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenantal commandment! They have taken some of the riches; they have stolen them and deceitfully put them among their own possessions.
24But they burned the city and all that was in it, except for the silver, gold, and bronze and iron items they put in the treasury of the LORD’s house.
1Achan Sins and is Punished But the Israelites disobeyed the command about the city’s riches. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, stole some of the riches. The LORD was furious with the Israelites.
2Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai(which is located near Beth Aven, east of Bethel) and instructed them,“Go up and spy on the land.” So the men went up and spied on Ai.

13The army was in position– the main army north of the city and the rear guard west of the city. That night Joshua went into the middle of the valley.
19All the silver and gold, as well as bronze and iron items, belong to the LORD. They must go into the LORD’s treasury.”
6Joshua tore his clothes; he and the leaders of Israel lay face down on the ground before the ark of the LORD until evening and threw dirt on their heads.
15The one caught with the riches must be burned up along with all who belong to him, because he violated the LORD’s covenant and did such a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”
16Bright and early the next morning Joshua made Israel approach in tribal order, and the tribe of Judah was selected.
22They went to the hill country and stayed there for three days, long enough for those chasing them to return. Their pursuers looked all along the way but did not find them.
23Then the two men returned– they came down from the hills, crossed the river, came to Joshua son of Nun, and reported to him all they had discovered.
6Joshua rewarded them and sent them on their way; they returned to their homes.
8When the men started out, Joshua told those going to map out the land,“Go, walk through the land, map it out, and return to me. Then I will draw lots for you before the LORD here in Shiloh.”
9The men journeyed through the land and mapped it and its cities out into seven regions on a scroll. Then they came to Joshua at the camp in Shiloh.
22Joshua said,“Open the cave’s mouth and bring the five kings out of the cave to me.”
15So they tracked them as far as the Jordan. The road was filled with clothes and equipment that the Syrians had discarded in their haste. The scouts went back and told the king.
11Then take some silver and gold to make a crown and set it on the head of Joshua the high priest, the son of Jehozadak.
