    46then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee, and will cut him in two, and assign him a place with the unfaithful.

    47That servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or do what his master asked will receive a severe beating.

  • 17But when he came to his senses he said,‘How many of my father’s hired workers have food enough to spare, but here I am dying from hunger!

  • 9For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one,‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave‘Do this!’ and he does it.”

  • 2At harvest time he sent a slave to the tenants to collect from them his portion of the crop.

  • 13No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

  • 26Then the slave threw himself to the ground before him, saying,‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you everything.’

  • 29but he answered his father,‘Look! These many years I have worked like a slave for you, and I never disobeyed your commands. Yet you never gave me even a goat so that I could celebrate with my friends!

  • 12Therefore he said,“A nobleman went to a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.
