They have become powerful in the land, but they have not done so by honest means. Indeed, they do one evil thing after another and do not pay attention to me.
4Everyone must be on his guard around his friends. He must not even trust any of his relatives. For every one of them will find some way to cheat him. And all of his friends will tell lies about him.
5One friend deceives another and no one tells the truth. These people have trained themselves to tell lies. They do wrong and are unable to repent.
6They do one act of violence after another, and one deceitful thing after another. They refuse to pay attention to me,” says the LORD.
16But all who destroyed you will be destroyed. All your enemies will go into exile. Those who plundered you will be plundered. I will cause those who pillaged you to be pillaged.

13But you have plowed wickedness; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of deception. Because you have depended on your chariots; you have relied on your many warriors.
10In response to all this I said,“Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have surely allowed the people of Judah and Jerusalem to be deceived by those who say,‘You will be safe!’ But in fact a sword is already at our throats.”
7Your creditors will suddenly attack; those who terrify you will spring into action, and they will rob you.
8Because you robbed many countries, all who are left among the nations will rob you. You have shed human blood and committed violent acts against lands, cities, and those who live in them.
14You will eat, but not be satisfied. Even if you have the strength to overtake some prey, you will not be able to carry it away; if you do happen to carry away something, I will deliver it over to the sword.
7Judgment Against Edom The LORD of Heaven’s Armies spoke about Edom.“Is wisdom no longer to be found in Teman? Can Edom’s counselors not give her any good advice? Has all of their wisdom turned bad?
8Turn and flee! Take up refuge in remote places, you people who live in Dedan. For I will bring disaster on the descendants of Esau. I have decided it is time for me to punish them.
17“Edom will become an object of horror. All who pass by it will be filled with horror; they will hiss out their scorn because of all the disasters that have happened to it.
11From you, O Nineveh, one has marched forth who plots evil against the LORD, a wicked military strategist.
