5“Do not fear, because I made a promise to your ancestors when they left Egypt, and my Spirit even now testifies to you.”
6Moreover, this is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies has said:“In just a little while I will once again shake the sky and the earth, the sea and the dry ground.
7I will also shake up all the nations, and they will offer their treasures; then I will fill this temple with glory.” So the LORD of Heaven’s Armies has said.
4Then I asked the messenger who spoke with me,“What are these, sir?”
5He replied,“Don’t you know what these are?” So I responded,“No, sir.”
12The Response of the People Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and the high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak, along with the whole remnant of the people, obeyed the LORD their God. 3But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the rest of the leaders of Israel said to them,“You have no right to help us build the temple of our God. We will build it by ourselves for the LORD God of Israel, just as King Cyrus, the king of Persia, has commanded us.”
4Then the local people began to discourage the people of Judah and to dishearten them from building.

8Go up to the hill country and bring back timber to build the temple. Then I will be pleased and honored,’ says the LORD.
9‘You expected a large harvest, but instead there was little. And when you would bring it home, I would blow it right away. Why?’ asks the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.‘Because my temple remains in ruins, thanks to each of you favoring his own house!
6And,’ says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies,‘though such a thing may seem to be difficult in the opinion of the small community of those days, will it also appear difficult to me?’ asks the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
2Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak began to rebuild the temple of God in Jerusalem. The prophets of God were with them, supporting them.

15He said:“Pay attention, all you people of Judah, residents of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says to you:‘Don’t be afraid and don’t panic because of this huge army! For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
8But I am full of the courage that the LORD’s Spirit gives, and have a strong commitment to justice. This enables me to confront Jacob with its rebellion, and Israel with its sin.
5The messenger replied,“These are the four spirits of heaven going out after presenting themselves before the Lord of all the earth.
