Has their wisdom vanished? 8 Flee, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him. 9 If grape gatherers come to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves came by night, they would destroy until they had enough. 10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he will not be able to hide himself: his descendants are spoiled, along with his brothers and his neighbors, and he is no more. 11 Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in me. 12 For thus says the LORD: Behold, those whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunk; and are you the one who shall altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink of it. 13 For I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes. 14 I have heard a rumor from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent to the nations, saying, Gather and come against her, and rise up to battle. 15 For behold, I will make you small among the nations, and despised among men. 16 Your terribleness has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there, says the LORD. 17 Also Edom shall be a desolation: everyone who passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues. 18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, says the LORD, no man shall dwell there, nor shall a son of man reside in it. 19 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swellings of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him flee away from her; and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? For who is like me? And who will appoint me the time? - Isa 63:1-6 : 1 Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? This one who is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength? It is I, who speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Why are you red in your apparel, and your garments like one who treads in the winepress? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people, there was none with me: for I will tread them in my anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my clothing. 4 For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed has come. 5 And I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold: therefore my own arm brought salvation for me; and my fury, it upheld me. 6 And I will tread down the people in my anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
- Isa 66:15-16 : 15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
- Zeph 2:8-9 : 8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, by which they have reproached my people and magnified themselves against their border. 9 Therefore as I live, says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even a breeding of nettles, and salt pits, and a perpetual desolation: the remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them. 10 This they shall have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.
- Zeph 3:8 : 8 Therefore wait for me, says the LORD, until the day that I rise up for the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them my indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

- Mal 1:2-4 : 2 I have loved you, says the LORD. Yet you say, How have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? says the LORD. Yet I loved Jacob, 3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the jackals of the wilderness. 4 Though Edom says, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus says the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD has indignation forever.
- Amos 1:11-12 : 11 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually, and he kept his wrath forever: 12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
- Obad 1:1-9 : 1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord GOD concerning Edom: We have heard a report from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Arise, and let us rise up against her in battle. 2 Behold, I have made you small among the nations; you are greatly despised. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, whose dwelling is high; who says in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? 4 Though you exalt yourself like the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down, says the LORD. 5 If thieves came to you, if robbers by night—oh, how you are cut off!—would they not have stolen till they had enough? If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some grapes? 6 How Esau's things are searched out! How his hidden treasures are sought after! 7 All the men of your confederacy have driven you to the border; the men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you; those who eat your bread have laid a trap under you. There is no understanding in him. 8 Shall I not in that day, says the LORD, even destroy the wise men from Edom, and understanding from the mountain of Esau? 9 And your mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, so that everyone from the mountain of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
- Obad 1:12 : 12 But you should not have gazed on the day of your brother in the day of his calamity; nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; nor should you have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
