The beginning of the word of the LORD through Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take for yourself a wife of harlotry and children of harlotry, for the land has committed great harlotry, departing from the LORD.

Thus were their names: Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah. 5 And Aholah played the harlot while she was mine; and she lusted after her lovers, after the Assyrians her neighbors, 6 Who were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses. 7 Thus she committed her harlotries with them, with all the choice men of Assyria, and with all on whom she lusted: with all their idols she defiled herself. 8 She did not leave her harlotries brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their harlotry upon her. 9 Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she lusted. 10 They uncovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and killed her with the sword: and she became notorious among women; for they had executed judgment upon her. 11 And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her lust than she, and in her harlotries more than her sister in her harlotries. 12 She lusted upon the Assyrians her neighbors, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men. 13 Then I saw that she was defiled, that they both followed the same way, 14 And that she increased her harlotries: for when she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, 15 Girded with sashes upon their loins, excellently attired upon their heads, all of them looking like princes, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity: 16 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she lusted upon them, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea. 17 And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their harlotry, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them. 18 So she uncovered her harlotries, and uncovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, just as my mind was alienated from her sister. 19 Yet she multiplied her harlotries, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, when she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. 20 For she lusted after their lovers, whose flesh is like the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. 21 Thus you called to remembrance the lewdness of your youth, in bruising your breasts by the Egyptians for the pleasures of your youth. 22 Therefore, O Aholibah, thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your mind is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side; 23 The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses. 24 And they shall come against you with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against you buckler and shield and helmet all around: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments. 25 And I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal furiously with you: they shall take away your nose and your ears; and your remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire. 26 They shall also strip you of your clothes, and take away your fine jewels. 27 Thus will I make your lewdness cease from you, and your harlotry brought from the land of Egypt: so that you shall not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt any more. 28 For thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of those you hate, into the hand of those from whom your mind is alienated: 29 And they shall deal with you hatefully, and shall take away all your labor, and shall leave you naked and bare: and the nakedness of your harlotries shall be uncovered, both your lewdness and your harlotries. 30 I will do these things to you, because you have gone a whoring after the heathen, and because you are polluted with their idols. 31 You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into your hand. 32 Thus says the Lord GOD; You shall drink of your sister's cup, deep and large: you shall be laughed to scorn and held in derision; it contains much. 33 You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of your sister Samaria. 34 You shall even drink it and drain it out, and you shall break its shards, and pluck off your own breasts: for I have spoken it, says the Lord GOD. 35 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because you have forgotten me, and cast me behind your back, therefore you shall also bear your lewdness and your harlotries. 36 The LORD said moreover to me; Son of man, will you judge Aholah and Aholibah? Yes, declare to them their abominations; 37 That they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bore to me, to pass through the fire, to devour them. 38 Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary on the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. 39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house. 40 And furthermore, you have sent for men to come from afar, to whom a messenger was sent; and, behold, they came: for whom you washed yourself, painted your eyes, and adorned yourself with ornaments, 41 And sat upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, upon which you set my incense and my oil. 42 And a voice of a multitude at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, who put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads. 43 Then said I to her who was old in adulteries, Will they now commit harlotries with her, and she with them? 44 Yet they went in to her, as they go in to a woman that plays the harlot: so they went in to Aholah and to Aholibah, the lewd women. 45 And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands. 46 For thus says the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be removed and plundered. 47 And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. 48 Thus will I cause lewdness to cease from the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. 49 And they shall repay your lewdness upon you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols: and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
• Jer 13:1-9 : 1 Thus says the LORD to me, Go and get yourself a linen belt, and put it around your waist, and do not put it in water. 2 So I got a belt according to the word of the LORD, and put it around my waist. 3 And the word of the LORD came to me a second time, saying, 4 Take the belt that you have got, which is around your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole in the rock. 5 So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me. 6 And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there. 7 Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it: and, behold, the belt was marred, it was profitable for nothing. 8 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 9 Thus says the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem. 10 This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the imagination of their heart, and follow other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, will be like this belt, which is good for nothing. 11 For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so have I caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me, says the LORD; that they might be to me a people, and a name, and a praise, and a glory: but they would not hear.
• Ezek 4:1-5 : 1 You also, son of man, take a tile and lay it before you, and portray upon it the city, even Jerusalem: 2 And lay siege against it, build a fort against it, and throw up a ramp against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it all around. 3 Moreover, take an iron pan and set it as a wall of iron between you and the city, and set your face against it, and it shall be besieged, and you shall lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel. 4 Lie also upon your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that you shall lie upon it, you shall bear their iniquity. 5 For I have laid upon you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so shall you bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
• 2 Chr 21:13 : 13 but have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and have led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into idolatry as the house of Ahab did, and have also killed your brothers, who were better than you,
• Ps 73:27 : 27 For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish; You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.
• Ps 106:39 : 39 Thus they were defiled with their own works, and played the harlot with their own inventions.
• Isa 20:2-3 : 2 At that same time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and remove the sackcloth from your waist, and take off your sandals from your feet. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot. 3 And the LORD said, Just as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

On the roads you have sat for them, like an Arabian in the wilderness; and you have polluted the land with your whoredoms and your wickedness. 3 Therefore, the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; and you had a harlot's forehead, you refused to be ashamed. 4 Will you not from this time call to me, My Father, you are the guide of my youth?
