Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

Verse 7

So when they continued asking him, he stood up and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him first throw a stone at her.

Verse 11

She said, No one, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.

Verse 12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world: he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Verse 13

The Pharisees therefore said to him, You bear witness of yourself; your witness is not true.

The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

Verse 14

Jesus answered and said to them, Though I bear witness of myself, my witness is true: for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you cannot tell where I come from, and where I am going.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

Verse 15

You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.

Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

Verse 21

Then Jesus said again to them, I go my way, and you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: where I go, you cannot come.

Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.

They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

Verse 28

Then Jesus said to them, When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you shall know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.

Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

Verse 29

And he who sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I always do those things that please him.

And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

Verse 30

As he spoke these words, many believed in him.

As he spake these words, many believed on him.

Verse 31

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.

Verse 38

I speak what I have seen with my Father: and you do what you have seen with your father.

I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

Verse 39

They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.

They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

Verse 40

But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I have heard from God: Abraham did not do this.

But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

Verse 41

You do the deeds of your father. Then they said to him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

Verse 42

Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love me: for I came out and came from God; neither did I come of myself, but he sent me.

Why do you not understand my speech? Because you cannot hear my word.

Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

Verse 44

You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you wish to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

And because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me.

And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

Verse 50

And I do not seek my own glory: there is one who seeks and judges.

And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.

Verily, verily, I say to you, If a man keeps my word, he shall never see death.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?

Verse 54

Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father who honors me; of whom you say, that he is your God:

Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

Verse 55

Yet you have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I do not know him, I shall be a liar like you: but I know him, and keep his word.
