Og han sa til Moses: Kom opp til Herren, du, Aron, Nadab, Abihu og sytti av Israels eldste, og tilbe på avstand.

And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.

Bare Moses skal nærme seg Herren, men de andre må ikke komme nær; folkene skal heller ikke gå opp med ham.

And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.

Moses kom og fortalte folket alle Herrens ord og lover, og hele folket svarte med én stemme og sa: Alle de ord som Herren har talt, vil vi gjøre.

And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.

Og Moses skrev ned alle Herrens ord, og han sto opp tidlig om morgenen og bygde et alter ved foten av fjellet, og tolv steinsøyler for de tolv Israels stammer.

And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

Og han sendte unge menn av Israels barn, som ofret brennoffer og slaktet fredsoffer av okser til Herren.

And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.

Og Moses tok halvparten av blodet og satte det i skåler, og den andre halvparten sprengte han på alteret.

And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

Og han tok paktens bok og leste den opp for folket, og de sa: Alt det Herren har sagt, vil vi gjøre, og vi vil være lydige.

And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.

Så tok Moses blodet og sprengte det på folket og sa: Se, blodet fra pakten som Herren har sluttet med dere på grunnlag av alle disse ord.

And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

Deretter gikk Moses, Aron, Nadab, Abihu og de sytti av Israels eldste opp.

Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:

Og de så Israels Gud: under hans føtter var det som et brolagt verk av safirstein, lik selve himmelens klarhet.

And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

Han la ikke sin hånd på de fremstående menn av Israels barn: de så Gud og de spiste og drakk.

And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.

Og Herren sa til Moses: Kom opp til meg på fjellet, og bli der, så skal jeg gi deg steintavler, loven og budene som jeg har skrevet, for at du skal lære dem.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

Så sto Moses opp med sin tjener Josva, og Moses gikk opp på Guds fjell.

And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.

Og han sa til de eldste: Bli her til vi kommer tilbake til dere, og se, Aron og Hur er med dere; den som har en sak, kan gå til dem.

And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.

Moses gikk opp på fjellet, og en sky dekket fjellet.

And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.

Herrens herlighet hvilte over Sinai-fjellet, og skyen dekket det i seks dager; den syvende dagen ropte Gud til Moses fra skyen.

And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

Moses så Herrens herlighet som en fortærende ild på toppen av fjellet for Israels barns øyne.

And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.

Moses gikk inn i midten av skyen og steg opp på fjellet; Moses var på fjellet i førti dager og førti netter.

And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
