    4ከተማው ውስጥ እንገባ ብንል በከተማው ራብ ነው፥ በዚያም እንሞታለን፤ እዚህ እንቀመጥ ብንል ደግሞ እንሞታለን፤ አሁን ኑ፣ ራሳችንን ለአራማውያን ሰፈር እናስረክብ፤ ካኖሩን እንኖራለን፥ ካገደሉን ግን ሞት ብቻ ነው።

    5በማታ ግርጌ ተነሡ ወደ አራማውያን ሰፈር ለመሄድ፤ ወደ የአራም ሰፈር ዳር ሲደርሱ እነሆ፣ በዚያ ሰው አልነበረም።

    6እግዚአብሔር የአራማውያንን ሠራዊት የሰረገላ ድምፅና የፈረሶች ድምፅ፣ የታላቅ ሠራዊት ድምፅ እንዲሰሙ አደረጋቸው፤ እርስ በርሳቸውም እንዲህ አሉ፦ እነሆ የእስራኤል ንጉሥ በእኛ ላይ የሄጢያውያንን ነገሥታትና የግብፃውያንን ነገሥታት በኪራይ አከራየብን እንዲመጡብን።

    7ስለዚህ በማታ ግርጌ ተነሡ ተሸሸጉ፥ ድንኳኖቻቸውንና ፈረሶቻቸውንና አህያዎቻቸውን ትተው፥ ሰፈሩንም እንዳለ ቀርተው ለሕይወታቸው እየሸሸጉ ሸሹ።

    8እነዚያ ለምጾች ወደ ሰፈሩ ዳር ሲደርሱ ወደ አንድ ድንኳን ገቡ፥ በሉና ጠጡ፥ ከዚያም ብርና ወርቅና ልብስ ይዘው ሄዱ ሰወሩት፤ እንደገናም መጥተው ወደ ሌላ ድንኳን ገቡ፥ ከዚያም ደግሞ ይዘው ሄዱ ሰወሩት።

    9እርስ በርሳቸው እንዲህ አሉ፦ እንዳለን መልካም አይደለም፤ ዛሬ የመልካም ዜና ቀን ነው፥ እኛ ግን ዝም ብለን እንቆያለን። እስከ ጠዋት ብንጠብቅ ቅጣት ይደርስብናል፤ አሁን ኑ፣ እንሂድ የንጉሡን ቤት እንነግር።

    10መጡና ለከተማይቱ በር ጠባቂ ጮኹ፥ እንዲህም ብለው ነገሩት፦ ወደ አራማውያን ሰፈር መጣን፤ እነሆም በዚያ ሰው አልነበረም፥ የሰው ድምፅም የለም፤ ነገር ግን ፈረሶች ተጣብቀው ነበር፥ አህያዎችም ተጣብቀው ነበር፥ ድንኳኖቹም እንዳለ ነበር።

    11እርሱም በር ጠባቂዎቹን ጠራ፥ እነርሱም ይህን ነገር ወደ ንጉሡ ቤት ውስጥ ነገሩ።

    16ሕዝቡም ወጥቶ የአራማውያንን ሰፈር ዘረፈ። ስለዚህ አንድ ሴአ ተጣራ ዱቄት ለአንድ ሰቅል፥ ሁለት ሴአ ገብስ ለአንድ ሰቅል ተሸጠ፤ ይህም እንደ የእግዚአብሔር ቃል ነበር።

    14እርሱም ወደዚያ ፈረሶችና ሠረገላዎች እና ታላቅ ሠራዊት ላከ፤ በሌሊት መጡና ከተማዋን በዙሪያዋ ከበቡአት።

    15የእግዚአብሔር ሰው አገልጋይ ማለዳ ተነሥቶ ወጣ፤ እነሆ በፈረሶችና በሠረገላዎች ሠራዊት ከተማዋ ተከብባ ነበር። አገልጋዩም አለ፦ ወዮ ጌታዬ! እንዴት እናደርጋለን?

    29እርስ በእርሳቸው ሰባት ቀን ተሰፍረው ቆዩ፤ በሰባተኛው ቀንም ጦርነቱ ተጀመረ፤ የእስራኤል ልጆች በአንድ ቀን ከአራማውያን እግረኛ ወታደሮች መቶ ሺህን ገደሉ።

    30የቀሩት ግን ወደ አፌቅ ከተማ ሸሹ፤ ቅጥርም በቀሩት ሰዎች ሃያ ሰባት ሺህ ላይ ተወድቆ ገደላቸው። በን-ሀዳድም ሸሽቶ ወደ ከተማ ገባ ወደ ውስጥ ክፍልም ገባ።

    31አገልጋዮቹም እንዲህ አሉት፤ “እነሆ፥ የእስራኤል ቤት ነገሥታት ርህሩሆች ንጉሥ እንደሆኑ ሰምተናል፤ እባክህ ማቅ በወገባችን እንልብስ፣ ገመዶችንም በራሳችን እንጫን እና ወደ የእስራኤል ንጉሥ እንወጣ፤ ምናልባት ሕይወትህን ያድናል።”

    24“ይህንም አድርግ፤ ነገሥታቱን እያንዳንዱን ከስፍራው አስወግድ፤ በፋንታቸውም አለቆችን አስቀምጥ።”
