    5እግዚአብሔርም ሙሴን አለው፦ «ከሕዝቡ ፊት ቀድሞ ሂድ፤ ከእስራኤል ሽማግሌዎች አንዳንዶቹን አብረህ ውሰድ፤ ወንዙን የመታህበት በትርህንም በእጅህ ይዘህ ሂድ»።

    6«እነሆ፣ እኔ በሆሬብ በዚያ በዐለቱ ላይ በፊትህ እቆማለሁ፤ አንተም ዐለቱን ትመታለህ፥ ከእርሱም ውሃ ይወጣ ዘንድ ይመጣል፤ ሕዝቡም ይጠጣል»። ሙሴም ይህን በእስራኤል ሽማግሌዎች ፊት አደረገ።

    7ስለ እስራኤላውያን ክርክር እና ስለ እግዚአብሔርን «እግዚአብሔር በመካከላችን ነው ወይስ አይደለም?» ብለው መፈተናቸው ያክል የዚያን ስፍራ ስም ማሣና መሪባ ብሎ ጠራው።
