    4እነርሱንም እንዲህ ብሎ አዘዛቸው፦ እነሆ፣ ከተማውን በኋላ ተደብቋት ትጠብቃላችሁ፤ ከከተማው እጅግ አትራቁ፤ ሁሉም ዝግጁ ሁኑ።

    5እኔም ከእኔ ጋር ያሉት ሕዝብ ሁሉ ወደ ከተማው እንቀርባለን፤ እነርሱም እንደ መጀመሪያው በላያችን ሲወጡ ከፊታቸው እንሸሻለን።

    19ሸሽቦውም ከስፍራቸው ፈጥነው ተነሡ፤ እጁን በዘረጋ ጊዜ ወዲያው ሮጡ፥ በከተማው ገብተው ወሰዱና ፈጥነው ከተማውን በእሳት አቃጠሉ።

    20የአይ ሰዎች ወደ ኋላቸው ባዩ ጊዜ እነሆ የከተማው ጭስ እስከ ሰማይ እየወጣ አዩ፤ ወዲያ ወይም ወዲህ ለመሸሻ ኃይል አልነበራቸውም፤ ወደ ምድረበዳ የሸሹት ሕዝብ ደግሞ ተመልሰው በመከታተሉት ላይ ተመለሱ።

    21ዮሴዋና እስራኤል ሁሉ ሸሽቦው ከተማውን እንዳወሰደ የከተማውም ጭስ እንደሚወጣ ባዩ ጊዜ ተመለሱና የአይን ሰዎችን መቱ።

    22ከከተማው ያሉት ሌሎችም ተወጡ በእነርሱ ላይ መጡ፤ እንግዲህ ከዚህና ከዚያ በኩል በእስራኤል መካከል ተጠምደው ሆኑ፤ እስከ ማንም እንኳ እንዳይቀር ወይም እንዳይመለጥ ድረስ መቱ።

    23የአይ ንጉሥንም ሕያው ይዘው ወደ ዮሴዋ አመጡት።

    24እስራኤላውያን በሜዳውና በምድረበዳው ያሉትን የአይ ሰዎች ሁሉ እስኪያጠፉ ድረስ ከተከታተሉአቸው በኋላ፣ ሁሉም በሰይፍ ጠርዝ ወድቀው እስኪጠናቀቁ ድረስ፣ እስራኤላውያን ሁሉ ወደ አይ ተመለሱና እዚያ በሰይፍ ጠርዝ መቱአት።
