ፀሐይ ሲመሽ ጊዜ ኢያሱ አዘዘ፥ ከዛፎቹም አውርደው በተሰወሩባት ዋሻ ውስጥ ጣሉአቸው፥ ታላላቅ ድንጋዮችንም በዋሻው አፍ ላይ አኖሩ፤ እስከ ዛሬውም ድረስ ቆይተዋል።

    24እነዚያን ነገሥታት ወደ ኢያሱ አቀረቡ በኋላ ኢያሱ የከተማ ጦር አለቆችንና ከእርሱ ጋር የሄዱትን የጦር ሰዎች ሁሉ ጠርቶ አለ። ቅረቡ እግሮቻችሁን በእነዚህ ነገሥታት አንገት ላይ አድርጉ። እነርሱም ቀረቡ እግሮቻቸውን በአንገታቸው ላይ አደረጉ።

    12በእግዚአብሔር አሞራውያንን በእስራኤል ልጆች ፊት አሳልፎ ሰጠበት ቀን ኢያሱ ለእግዚአብሔር ተናገረ፥ በእስራኤልም ፊት እንዲህ አለ። ፀሐይ ሆይ፥ በጊብዖን ላይ ቆም፤ አንቺም ጨረቃ ሆይ፥ በአያሎን ሸለቆ ቆም።

    13ፀሐይም ቆመች፥ ጨረቃም የቆመች፥ ሕዝቡ በጠላቶቻቸው ላይ በቀሉ እስኪያሟሉ ድረስ። ይህ በያሸር መጽሐፍ አልተጻፈምን? ፀሐይም በሰማይ መካከል ቆማ እስከ ሙሉ አንድ ቀን መጠን ድረስ ለመውረድ አልቸነፈችም።
