Verse 8

The beast you saw was, and is not, and is about to ascend from the abyss and go to destruction. Those who dwell on the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will marvel when they see the beast, because it was, is not, and yet is.

By these signs he had deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The dragon gave the beast his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 One of the beast's heads appeared to have been fatally wounded, but its mortal wound was healed. The whole earth marveled and followed the beast. 4 They worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?" 5 The beast was given a mouth to speak arrogant words and blasphemies, and it was given authority to act for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme against God, to slander His name, His dwelling, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was also given power to wage war against the saints and to conquer them. It was given authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation. 8 All those who live on the earth will worship it, everyone whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If anyone has ears to hear, let them listen. 10 If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed. This calls for the endurance and faith of the saints. 11 Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercises all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and it makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed.
  • Rev 14:8-9 : 8 A second angel followed, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the Great, who made all the nations drink the wine of her passionate immorality." 9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they too will drink the wine of God's wrath, which has been poured full strength into the cup of His anger. They will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. 11 The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark bearing its name." 12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and hold fast to faith in Jesus. 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them." 14 Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one like a Son of Man, with a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 Another angel came out of the temple, calling in a loud voice to the one who was seated on the cloud, "Swing your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe." 16 So the one seated on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested. 17 Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. 18 Still another angel, who had authority over the fire, came out from the altar and called with a loud voice to the one holding the sharp sickle, "Swing your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth's vine, because its grapes are ripe." 19 So the angel swung his sickle over the earth and gathered its grapes, and he threw them into the great winepress of God's wrath. 20 They were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses' bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.
  • Rev 16:1-9 : 1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, 'Go and pour out the bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.' 2 The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. 3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died. 4 The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. 5 Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say, 'You are righteous, Lord, the one who is, and who was, and who is to come, because you have judged these things.' 6 For they shed the blood of your holy people and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve. 7 And I heard the altar respond, 'Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments.' 8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were scorched by the intense heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues. But they refused to repent and glorify him. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony, 11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and sores, but they refused to repent of their deeds. 12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits that looked like frogs coming out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. 14 They are demonic spirits performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world to gather them for battle on the great day of God Almighty. 15 Look, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps their clothes with them, so they will not walk around naked and be shamefully exposed. 16 Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. 17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, 'It is done!'. 18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a massive earthquake—an earthquake so great that none like it has occurred since mankind has been on earth.
