  • Gal 3:19-25 : 19 Why, then, was the law given? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise was made would come. It was administered through angels by a mediator. 20 Now a mediator implies more than one party, but God is one. 21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. 22 But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise, by faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. 23 Before this faith came, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

They captured Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze shackles, and took him to Babylon. 12 When he was in distress, he sought the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his ancestors. 13 He prayed to Him, and the LORD was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea. He brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.
  • Rom 3:19-20 : 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be justified in His sight by works of the law; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
  • Rom 7:5-9 : 5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, bearing fruit for death. 6 But now we have been released from the law, having died to what once bound us, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code. 7 What shall we say then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, 'You shall not covet.' 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity provided by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. 9 At one time I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin came to life and I died. 10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. 11 For sin, seizing the opportunity provided by the commandment, deceived me and through the commandment put me to death. 12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous, and good. 13 Did what is good then become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, in order to be recognized as sin, used what is good to bring about my death, so that sin might become utterly sinful through the commandment.

Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
  • 2 Cor 3:7-9 : 7 If the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not look intently at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was passing away, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness far exceeds it in glory.

'I will not look on you with anger, for I am faithful,' declares the LORD, 'and I will not be angry forever. 13 Only acknowledge your guilt—that you have rebelled against the LORD your God, scattered your favors to strangers under every spreading tree, and have not obeyed my voice,' declares the LORD. 14 Return, faithless children,' declares the LORD, 'for I am your master. I will take you—one from a city and two from a family—and bring you to Zion.

  • 1 Tim 1:13-16 : 13 Even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord overflowed abundantly along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the foremost. 16 But for this reason I was shown mercy, so that in me, the foremost of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His perfect patience as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
