5Beloved, thou doest a faithful work in whatsoever thou doest toward them that are brethren and strangers withal;
4longing to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
3And I wrote this very thing, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is [the joy] of you all.
4For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be made sorry, but that ye might know the love that I have more abundantly unto you.
18[ My] Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth.
19Hereby shall we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before him:
11These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and [that] your joy may be made full.
7For I had much joy and comfort in thy love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.
24The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; And he that begetteth a wise child will have joy of him.
13But now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.
18What then? only that in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and therein I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
12Having many things to write unto you, I would not [write them] with paper and ink: but I hope to come unto you, and to speak face to face, that your joy may be made full.

1Wherefore, my brethren beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my beloved.
15For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which [ye show] toward all the saints,
28Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
15but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, [even] Christ;
