    18Then Asa took all the silver and gold left in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace and placed them into the hands of his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, the king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, with this message:

    19Let there be a treaty between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. See, I am sending you a gift of silver and gold. Now go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me.

    20Ben-Hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his forces against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel Beth Maacah, and all Kinneroth, as well as all the land of Naphtali.

    21When Baasha heard about it, he stopped building Ramah and moved to Tirzah.

    8When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He restored the altar of the LORD that was in front of the LORD’s temple.

    16King Asa also deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made an obscene image for Asherah. Asa cut down her obscene image, crushed it, and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

    17Although the high places were not removed from Israel, Asa’s heart was fully devoted to the LORD all his life.

    18He brought into the house of God the silver, gold, and articles that he and his father had dedicated.

    19There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.
