    15 Elisha said, "Call her." So Gehazi called her, and she came and stood in the doorway.

    16 Then Elisha said, "At this time next year, you will be holding a son in your arms." She replied, "No, my lord, man of God, do not deceive your servant."

    17 But the woman conceived and gave birth to a son at the appointed time the next year, just as Elisha had told her.

    18 The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers.

    19 He said to his father, "My head! My head!" His father told a servant, "Carry him to his mother."

    20 The servant carried the boy to his mother, and the child sat on her lap until noon, and then he died.

    21 She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out.

    22 She called her husband and said, "Please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God and come back."

    30 But the boy’s mother said, 'As surely as the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.' So he got up and followed her.

    31 Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him, 'The boy has not awakened.'

    32 When Elisha arrived at the house, there was the boy, lying dead on his bed.

    33 He went in, shut the door behind them both, and prayed to the LORD.

    34 Then he got on the bed and lay on the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands. As he stretched out over him, the boy’s flesh grew warm.

    35 Elisha got up and walked back and forth in the house. Then he went up and stretched out over the boy again. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.

    36 Elisha called Gehazi and said, 'Call the Shunammite woman.' So he called her, and when she came, he said, 'Take your son.'

    37 She came, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground. Then she picked up her son and went out.

    19 During the night, this woman's son died because she lay on him.

    20 So she got up in the middle of the night, took my son from my side while I was asleep, and laid him in her arms. She then placed her dead son in my arms.

    21 When I got up in the morning to nurse my son, I discovered he was dead. But when I looked more closely at him in the morning light, I saw that it was not the son I had borne.

    9 "Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Look, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you."

    10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. When he reached the city gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and said, "Please bring me a little water in a vessel so I may drink."

    11 As she was going to fetch it, he called to her and said, "Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand as well."

    12 But she replied, "As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked. I only have a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a couple of sticks to go and prepare it for myself and my son so we may eat it and then die."

    13 Elijah said to her, "Do not be afraid. Go and do as you have said, but first make a small cake for me from what you have and bring it to me. Then make some for yourself and your son."

    28 Then the king asked her, "What is your problem?" She replied, "This woman said to me, 'Give me your son so we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.'

    29 So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day, I said to her, 'Give me your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden her son."

    20 Elisha left the oxen, ran after Elijah, and said, 'Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye, and then I will follow you.' Elijah said to him, 'Go back, for what have I done to you?'

    21 Elisha returned, took the pair of oxen, and slaughtered them. Using the equipment of the oxen, he cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he got up, followed Elijah, and became his attendant.
