    1In the days of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, marched up to Jerusalem for battle, but they could not prevail against it.

    2When it was reported to the house of David, 'Aram has allied itself with Ephraim,' the heart of Ahaz and the hearts of his people trembled, like trees of the forest shaken by the wind.

    3The Lord said to Isaiah, 'Go out to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-Jashub, your son, at the end of the aqueduct of the upper pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field,'

    4and say to him, 'Be careful, keep calm, and do not be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.'

    5'Aram, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have plotted your ruin, saying,'

    6'Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeal king over it.'

    7This is what the Sovereign Lord says: It will not take place; it will not happen.

    7Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser, king of Assyria, saying, 'I am your servant and your son. Come and save me from the hand of the king of Aram and the king of Israel, who are attacking me.'

    8Ahaz took the silver and gold found in the temple of the Lord and the treasuries of the royal palace and sent them as a gift to the king of Assyria.

    9The king of Assyria complied with him, marched up to Damascus, seized it, exiled its people to Kir, and killed Rezin.

    10King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser, king of Assyria. While he was there, he saw an altar and sent a detailed plan and model of the altar to Uriah the priest.

    11Uriah the priest constructed the altar following all the instructions King Ahaz had sent from Damascus. By the time the king returned from Damascus, the altar was ready.

    8Hezekiah asked Isaiah, "What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the house of the LORD on the third day?"

    9Isaiah answered, "This is the sign from the LORD to you that He will do what He has promised: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it go back ten steps?"

  • 21Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah, saying, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to Me about Sennacherib king of Assyria,

  • 16At that time, King Ahaz sent for help from the kings of Assyria.

  • 19The LORD had humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had promoted wickedness in Judah and had been unfaithful to the LORD.

  • 1Then the Lord said to me, "Take a large tablet and inscribe on it with an ordinary stylus: 'Swift to Plunder, Quick to Spoil.'"
