    21 For when Israel was torn from the house of David, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat king. Jeroboam drove Israel away from following the Lord and led them into great sin.

    7 Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser, king of Assyria, saying, 'I am your servant and your son. Come and save me from the hand of the king of Aram and the king of Israel, who are attacking me.'

    8 Ahaz took the silver and gold found in the temple of the Lord and the treasuries of the royal palace and sent them as a gift to the king of Assyria.

    1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. However, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD like his ancestor David.

    2 Instead, he followed the ways of the kings of Israel, and he even made cast images for the Baals.

  • 11 Judah has been unfaithful, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the Lord, which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.
