4Then the city wall was breached, and all the warriors fled at night through the gate between the two walls near the king's garden, even though the Chaldeans were surrounding the city. They escaped toward the Arabah.
5But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his troops scattered away from him.
6They captured the king and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah, where they passed judgment on him.
7The sons of Zedekiah were slaughtered before his eyes, and then his eyes were blinded. They bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon.
8On the seventh day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.
