Spend the night here, and let your heart be content. You can rise early tomorrow and continue on your way home.”

    10But the man was unwilling to stay the night. He got up and left, arriving near Jebus (that is, Jerusalem). He had with him a pair of saddled donkeys and his concubine.

    11When they were near Jebus and the day was almost gone, the servant said to his master, “Come, let us turn aside to this city of the Jebusites and stay the night there.”

    12But his master said to him, “We will not turn aside into a city of foreigners, who are not Israelites. We will go on to Gibeah.”

    13He said to his servant, "Come, let us approach one of these places and spend the night in Gibeah or Ramah."

    14So they passed on and continued their journey. The sun set as they came near Gibeah, which belongs to the tribe of Benjamin.

    15They turned aside there to go in and spend the night in Gibeah. When they went in, they sat in the town square, but no one took them into their house to spend the night.

    16In the evening, an old man came in from his work in the field. He was from the hill country of Ephraim and was staying temporarily in Gibeah, though the people of the place were Benjaminites.

    17When he looked up and saw the traveler in the town square, the old man asked, "Where are you going, and where have you come from?"

    18The man answered, "We are traveling from Bethlehem in Judah to the remote parts of the hill country of Ephraim, where I am from. I have been to Bethlehem in Judah, and I am going to the house of the Lord, but no one has taken me into their home.

    12They went up and encamped in Kiriath-jearim in Judah. That is why to this day the place is called Mahaneh Dan (the camp of Dan), located west of Kiriath-jearim.

    13From there they continued on to the hill country of Ephraim and arrived at Micah's house.

    14Then the five men who had gone to scout out the land of Laish said to their fellow Danites, 'Do you know that in these houses there's an ephod, household gods, a carved image, and a cast idol? Now think about what you should do.'

    15So they turned aside there and went to the house of the young Levite, at Micah's house, and asked him how he was doing.
