Whoever touches the dead body of any person shall be unclean for seven days.
He must purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day, then he will be clean. But if he does not purify himself on the third day and the seventh day, he will not be clean.
Anyone who touches a dead body, the lifeless body of a person who has died, and does not purify himself, defiles the LORD's tabernacle. That person must be cut off from Israel because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him. He remains unclean; his uncleanness is still upon him.
This is the law: When a person dies in a tent, everyone who enters the tent and everyone who is in the tent shall be unclean for seven days.
And every open container that does not have a lid tightly fastened on it shall be unclean.
Anyone in the open field who touches someone who was killed with a sword, a dead body, a human bone, or a grave shall be unclean for seven days.
For the unclean person, they shall take some of the ashes from the burnt purification offering, and fresh water shall be added to them in a container.
Then a clean person shall take hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, on all the vessels, on the people who were there, and on anyone who touched a bone, a slain person, a dead body, or a grave.
The clean person shall sprinkle the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day. On the seventh day, he shall purify him. Then the one being purified must wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he will be clean by evening.
