  • Judg 4:1-2 : 1 The Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD after Ehud had died. 2 So the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin, king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor, and the commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-hagoyim.
  • Judg 6:1-6 : 1 The Israelites did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord handed them over to Midian for seven years. 2 Midian's power overwhelmed Israel, and because of Midian, the Israelites made hiding places for themselves in the mountains, caves, and strongholds. 3 Whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites, Amalekites, and the people of the east would come up and attack them. 4 They camped against them and destroyed the crops of the land all the way to Gaza, leaving nothing for the Israelites to live on—not even sheep, cattle, or donkeys. 5 For they came with their livestock and tents, like swarms of locusts in number. Both they and their camels were too many to count, and they invaded the land to devastate it. 6 So Israel was brought very low because of Midian, and the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help.
  • Judg 10:7-9 : 7 So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He gave them into the hands of the Philistines and the Ammonites. 8 They crushed and oppressed the Israelites that year. For eighteen years, they oppressed all the Israelites who were on the east side of the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead. 9 The Ammonites also crossed over the Jordan to fight against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, and Israel was greatly distressed. 10 Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD, saying, 'We have sinned against You, for we have abandoned our God and served the Baals.' 11 The LORD said to the Israelites, 'Did I not rescue you from Egypt, the Amorites, the Ammonites, and the Philistines? 12 'And when the Sidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites oppressed you, and you cried out to Me, I rescued you from their hands.' 13 'But you have forsaken Me and served other gods. Therefore, I will no longer rescue you.' 14 'Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble!' 15 The Israelites said to the LORD, 'We have sinned. Do to us whatever seems good to You, but please save us today.' 16 So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel. 17 The Ammonites were called together and encamped in Gilead, while the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah. 18 The people, the leaders of Gilead, said to one another, 'Who is the man who will begin the fight against the Ammonites? He shall be the leader for all the inhabitants of Gilead.'
  • Neh 9:27-37 : 27 So You handed them over to their enemies, who oppressed them. But in their time of distress, they cried out to You, and You heard from heaven. In Your great mercy, You gave them deliverers, who rescued them from the hand of their enemies. 28 But as soon as they had rest, they returned to doing evil in Your sight. So You abandoned them to their enemies, who ruled over them. Yet when they again cried out to You, You heard from heaven and rescued them many times in Your abundant mercy. 29 You warned them to return to Your law, but they acted arrogantly and did not obey Your commandments. They sinned against Your judgments, which, if a person does, they will live by them. Stubbornly, they turned their backs, stiffened their necks, and would not listen. 30 For many years, You were patient with them. You warned them by Your Spirit through Your prophets, yet they would not listen. So You gave them into the hands of the peoples of the lands. 31 Still, in Your great mercies, You did not utterly destroy them or abandon them, for You are a gracious and merciful God. 32 Now therefore, our God, the great, mighty, and awesome God who keeps His covenant and steadfast love, do not let the hardship that has come upon us—on our kings, leaders, priests, prophets, ancestors, and on all Your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until today—seem insignificant to You. 33 You are righteous in all that has happened to us, because You have acted faithfully while we have acted wickedly. 34 Our kings, leaders, priests, and ancestors did not obey Your law or pay attention to Your commandments and warnings You gave them. 35 Even while they were in their kingdom, enjoying Your abundant goodness and the spacious, fertile land You gave them, they did not serve You or turn from their evil deeds. 36 Here we are today, slaves in the land You gave to our ancestors so they could enjoy its fruit and its goodness—here we are, slaves in it! 37 Its abundant harvest goes to the kings You have set over us because of our sins. They rule over our bodies and our livestock as they please, and we are in great distress.
