6But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.
1In the eight moneth of the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lorde vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo, the Prophet, saying,
3Because of their wickednes which they haue comitted, to prouoke me to anger in that they went to burne incense, & to serue other gods, who they knew not, neither they nor you nor your fathers.
6For our fathers haue trespassed, and done euill in the eyes of the Lord our God, and haue forsaken him, & turned away their faces from the Tabernacle of the Lord, and turned their backes.
5Thus sayeth the Lord, What iniquitie haue your fathers founde in mee, that they are gone farre from mee, and haue walked after vanitie, and are become vaine?
7And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the Lorde God of their fathers: and therfore he made them desolate, as ye see.
8Be not ye now stiffenecked like your fathers, but giue the hand to the Lorde, and come into his sanctuarie, which he hath sanctified for euer, and serue the Lorde your God, & the fiercenesse of his wrath shall turne away from you.
8Wherfore the wrath of the Lord hath bin on Iudah and Ierusalem: and he hath made them a scattering, a desolation, and an hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
14For thus sayth the Lorde of hostes, As I thought to punish you, when your fathers prouoked me vnto wrath, sayth the Lord of hostes, and repented not,
14And behold, ye are risen vp in your fathers steade as an encrease of sinfull men, still to augment the fierce wrath of the Lord, toward Israel.
27Therefore the wrath of the Lorde waxed hot against this land, to bring vpon it euery curse that is written in this booke.
16The anger of the Lorde hath scattered them, he will no more regard them: they reuerenced not the face of the Priestes, nor had compassion of the Elders.
27Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers haue transgressed against me.
34Then the Lorde heard the voyce of your wordes, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
11Then shalt thou say vnto them, Because your fathers haue forsaken me, sayth the Lord, & haue walked after other gods, and haue serued them, and worshipped them, & haue forsaken me, and haue not kept my Law,
12( And ye haue done worse then your fathers: for beholde, you walke euery one after the stubbernesse of his wicked heart, and will not heare me)
32Because of all the euill of the children of Israel, and of the children of Iudah, which they haue done to prouoke mee to anger, euen they, their Kings, their Princes, their Priests, and their Prophets, and the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem.
7Neuerthelesse ye would not heare me, saith the Lord, but haue prouoked mee to anger with the workes of your hands to your owne hurt.
7Your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers shalbe together (sayth the Lorde) which haue burnt incense vpon the mountaines, & blasphemed me vpon the hilles: therefore wil I measure their olde worke into their bosome.
15But if yee will not obey the voyce of the Lorde, but disobey the Lordes mouth, then shall the hand of the Lorde be vpon you, and on your fathers.
13Your wordes haue bene stout against me, sayeth the Lorde: yet ye say, What haue we spoken against thee?
22But thou hast vtterly reiected vs: thou art exceedingly angry against vs.
15Because they haue done euil in my sight, and haue prouoked mee to anger, since the time their fathers came out of Egypt vntill this day.
19The Lorde then sawe it, and was angrie, for the prouocation of his sonnes and of his daughters.
8Wherefore girde you with sackecloth: lament, and howle, for the fierce wrath of the Lord is not turned backe from vs.
1Againe the worde of the Lord of hostes came to me, saying,
2Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I was ielous for Zion with great ielousie, and I was ielous for her with great wrath.
3Doubtlesse because the wrath of the Lord was against Ierusalem and Iudah, till he had cast them out from his presence, therefore Zedekiah rebelled against the King of Babel.
7From the dayes of your fathers, ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and haue not kept them: returne vnto me, and I will returne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes: but ye saide, Wherein shall we returne?
17Yee haue wearied the Lorde with your woordes: yet yee say, Wherein haue we wearied him? When ye say, Euery one that doeth euill, is good in the sight of the Lorde, and he deliteth in them. Or where is the God of iudgement?
6A sonne honoureth his father, and a seruant his master. If then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my feare, sayth the Lorde of hostes vnto you, O Priestes, that despise my Name? and yee say, Wherein haue we despised thy Name?
12O yee heauens, be astonied at this: bee afraid and vtterly confounded, sayeth the Lord.
9Haue yee forgotten the wickednes of your fathers, and the wickednesse of the Kings of Iudah and the wickednesse of their wiues and your owne wickednes & the wickednes of your wiues, which they haue committed in the land of Iudah and in the streetes of Ierusalem?
2Heare, O heauens, and hearken, O earth: for the Lorde hath sayde, I haue nourished and brought vp children, but they haue rebelled against me.
10They are turned backe to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to heare my wordes: and they went after other gods to serue them: thus the house of Israel, & the house of Iudah haue broken my couenant, which I made with their fathers.
17(2:18) I smote you with blasting, and with mildewe, and with haile, in all the labours of your hands: yet you turned not to me, saith the Lord.
9And nowe, I pray you, pray before God, that he may haue mercie vpon vs: this hath beene by your meanes: will hee regard your persons, sayth the Lord of hostes?
20We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickednesse and the iniquitie of our fathers: for we haue sinned against thee.
16O Lorde, according to all thy righteousnes, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy wrath be turned away from thy citie Ierusalem thine holy Mountaine: for because of our sinnes, & for the iniquities of our fathers, Ierusalem and thy people are a reproche to all that are about vs.
1Therefore it displeased Ionah exceedingly, and he was angry.
2The Lord hath destroyed al the habitations of Iaakob, & not spared: he hath throwen downe in his wrath ye strong holds of the daughter of Iudah: he hath cast the downe to ye ground: he hath polluted the kingdome and the princes thereof.
5Then shall hee speake vnto them in his wrath, & vexe them in his sore displeasure, saying,
1Moreouer, the woorde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
2If yee will not heare it, nor consider it in your heart, to giue glory vnto my Name, sayth the Lorde of hostes, I will euen sende a curse vpon you, and will curse your blessings: yea, I haue cursed them alreadie, because yee doe not consider it in your heart.
8Also in Horeb ye prouoked the Lorde to anger so that the Lord was wroth with you, euen to destroy you.
