11Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
5¶ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
4¶ Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]:
2By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
5Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
20For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and [that] I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest [there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
36¶ What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
18Thy way and thy doings have procured these [things] unto thee; this [is] thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
4¶ Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
8This persuasion [cometh] not of him that calleth you.
4Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
10Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
16These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words], having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
9Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
1¶ Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
11For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them [which are of the house] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
