18Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh.
19For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.
20For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer for it, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
21For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
1I urge, therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all people;
2For kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty.
3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
1Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,
12Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
5Likewise, you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
29Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

1Let as many servants as are under the yoke consider their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and His doctrine be not blasphemed.
