10 David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said to him, Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.
42 And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and you, and between my descendants and your descendants forever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
14 And his friend answered and said, This is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; for God has delivered Midian and all the army into his hand.
16 And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, stayed in Gibeah of Benjamin; but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.
47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear, for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hands.
18 And they two made a covenant before the LORD; and David abode in the forest, and Jonathan went to his house.
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, you were slain in your high places.
