    5 And David arose and came to the place where Saul had camped. And David saw where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his army. Saul lay within the camp, and the people were camped around him.

    6 Then David answered and said to Ahimelech the Hittite and Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, "Who will go down with me to the camp of Saul?" And Abishai said, "I will go down with you."

    7 So David and Abishai came to the people by night, and there lay Saul sleeping within the camp, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head; but Abner and the people lay around him.

    8 Then Abishai said to David, "God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day. Now, therefore, let me strike him with the spear to the ground with one stroke, and I will not strike him a second time."

    9 And David said to Abishai, "Do not destroy him, for who can stretch out his hand against the LORD's anointed and be guiltless?"

    10 David said furthermore, "As the LORD lives, the LORD will strike him, or his day will come to die, or he shall go down into battle and perish."

    11 The LORD forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the LORD's anointed. But, please, take now the spear that is at his head and the jar of water, and let us go."

    12 So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul's head, and they departed, and no man saw it or knew it or awoke, for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen upon them.

    13 Then David went over to the other side and stood on the top of a hill a great distance away, a large space being between them.

    57 When David returned from killing the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.

    58 Saul said to him, Whose son are you, young man? David answered, I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.

  • 10 And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

  • 15 And David said to him, Can you bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear to me by God, that you will neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this company.
