17Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
18Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
4For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
5I will also break the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him who holds the scepter from the house of Eden; and the people of Syria shall go into captivity to Kir, says the LORD.
17Then Hazael king of Syria went up, fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
21And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed all the mighty men of valor and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame on his face to his own land. And when he entered the house of his god, his own sons killed him with the sword there.
3Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him tribute.
37And it happened, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons struck him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.
