  • 1 Kgs 20:13-21 : 13 And behold, there came a prophet to Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus says the LORD, Have you seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 14 And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus says the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall arrange the battle? And he answered, You. 15 Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand. 16 And they went out at noon. But Benhadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings that helped him. 17 And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria. 18 And he said, Whether they come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they come out for war, take them alive. 19 So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them. 20 And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Benhadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with the horsemen. 21 And the king of Israel went out, and struck the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.
  • 1 Kgs 20:28-30 : 28 And there came a man of God, and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, Thus says the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the LORD. 29 And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians one hundred thousand footmen in one day. 30 But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty-seven thousand of the men that were left. And Benhadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.

  • 2 Chr 13:5-9 : 5 Do you not know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, to him and his sons by a covenant of salt? 6 Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, has risen up and has rebelled against his lord. 7 And there gathered to him worthless men, sons of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not resist them. 8 And now you think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and with you are golden calves, which Jeroboam made for you to be gods. 9 Have you not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made yourselves priests like the peoples of other lands? So that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of those who are no gods. 10 But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests who minister to the LORD are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties. 11 And they burn to the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: they also set the showbread in order upon the pure table; and the gold lampstand with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but you have forsaken him. 12 And behold, God himself is with us as our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to sound alarm against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper. 13 But Jeroboam set an ambush to come around behind them: so they were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them. 14 And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was in front and behind: and they cried to the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. 15 Then the men of Judah shouted: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. 16 And the children of Israel fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hand.
