14And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

16Now therefore send quickly and tell David, saying, Do not lodge this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over, lest the king and all the people who are with him be swallowed up.
24And Absalom came to the king and said, Behold now, your servant has sheepshearers; please let the king and his servants go with your servant.
25And the king said to Absalom, No, my son, let us not all go now, lest we be a burden to you. And he urged him; however, he would not go, but blessed him.
26Then Absalom said, If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, Why should he go with you?
27But Absalom urged him, so he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.
24Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
31Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom at his house, and said to him, Why have your servants set my field on fire?
32And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, Why did I come from Geshur? it would have been better for me to still be there: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there is any iniquity in me, let him kill me.
33So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.

6In that you love your enemies and hate your friends. For you have declared today that you regard neither princes nor servants; for I perceive this day, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died today, then it would have pleased you well.
2And Absalom rose up early and stood beside the way of the gate, and it was so, that when any man who had a controversy came to the king for judgment, Absalom called to him, and said, Of what city are you? And he said, Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
3And Absalom said to him, See, your matters are good and right; but there is no man appointed by the king to hear you.
11And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, who were called; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not anything.
12And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.
13And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom.
6And Absalom did this to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
31And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
32And it came to pass, that when David came to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth upon his head:
33To whom David said, If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me:
34But if you return to the city, and say to Absalom, I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father's servant before, so will I now also be your servant: then you may for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.
35And do you not have there with you Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that whatever thing you hear out of the king's house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
10And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why do you not speak a word of bringing the king back?
32And the king said to Cushi, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Cushi answered, May the enemies of my lord the king, and all who rise against you to do you harm, be as that young man is.
33And the king was deeply moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! If only I had died for you, O Absalom, my son, my son!
19Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, Why are you also going with us? Return to your place, and stay with the king: for you are a stranger and also an exile.
20Whereas you came just yesterday, should I this day make you wander with us? seeing I go where I may, return, and take back your brethren: mercy and truth be with you.
29Therefore Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.
1Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight:
29And the king said, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered, When Joab sent the king's servant, and me your servant, I saw a great commotion, but I did not know what it was.
20And when Absalom's servants came to the woman at the house, they said, Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, They have gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
7But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those that eat at your table; for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom your brother.
37But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.
24And the king said, Let him return to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house, and did not see the king's face.
15And David said to Abner, "Are you not a valiant man? And who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not kept watch over your lord the king? For there came one of the people in to destroy the king your lord."
24Then Joab came to the king and said, What have you done? Behold, Abner came to you; why is it that you have sent him away, and he is quite gone?
