And he said, Far be it from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is this not the blood of the men who risked their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.

26 David spoke to the men standing by him, asking, What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27 The people answered him in this manner, saying, So shall it be done for the man who kills him.
