11These also king David dedicated to the LORD, along with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations: from Edom and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
12Moreover, Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
16And when the Syrians saw that they were defeated before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river; and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
17And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and crossed over Jordan, and came upon them and set the battle in array against them. So when David had set the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
18But the Syrians fled before Israel, and David killed seven thousand men of the Syrians who fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.
19And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were defeated before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants; neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon anymore.

9And David struck the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, the oxen, the donkeys, the camels, and the clothes, and returned and came to Achish.
47So Saul established his reign over Israel and fought against all his enemies on every side: Moab, the children of Ammon, Edom, the kings of Zobah, and the Philistines; wherever he turned, he harassed them.
