7Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers, and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me its interpretation.
8But at last, Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods, and before him I told the dream, saying,
9O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no secret troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation.
16And I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and solve doubts. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with scarlet, have a chain of gold around your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
17Then Daniel answered and said before the king, "Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
24Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus to him; Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon: bring me before the king, and I will show the king the interpretation.
25Then Arioch brought Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus to him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, who will make known the interpretation to the king.
26The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation?
27Daniel answered before the king and said, The secret which the king has demanded cannot be shown to the king by the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, or the soothsayers.
28But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets, and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, are these.
29As for you, O king, your thoughts came into your mind upon your bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he who reveals secrets makes known to you what shall come to pass.
30But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes who shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that you might understand the thoughts of your heart.
5The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
6But if you show the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor: therefore show me the dream and its interpretation.
7They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will provide the interpretation.
8The king answered and said, I know for certain that you are buying time because you see the command has gone from me.
9But if you do not make known the dream to me, there is only one decree for you: for you have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me until the time changes. Therefore, tell me the dream, and I shall know you can reveal its interpretation.
10The Chaldeans answered the king and said, There is not a man on earth who can show the king's matter: therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean.
11And it is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is no one who can show it before the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
12For this reason, the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
13And the decree went out that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.
18This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, have seen. Now you, O Belteshazzar, declare its interpretation, since all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able, for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.
19Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonished for a time, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spoke, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream or its interpretation trouble you. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, may the dream concern those who hate you, and its interpretation concern your enemies.
2Then the king commanded to call the magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and Chaldeans to show the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
3And the king said to them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream.
18Now at the end of the days, when the king had said they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them before Nebuchadnezzar.
19And the king conversed with them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king.
20And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.
14I have heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.
13Then the king said to the wise men who knew the times (for so was the king's manner toward all who knew law and judgment,
14And the closest to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who saw the king's face and who sat first in the kingdom).
24Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.
25And this is the writing that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
13You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from these things that shall come upon you.
36This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation before the king.
16Then Daniel went in and requested of the king that he would give him time, and that he would show the king the interpretation.
18That they would seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
24This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
