Therefore the Jews of the villages, who dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

    16The Jews had light, gladness, joy, and honor.

    17And in every province and every city, wherever the king's command and his decree came, the Jews had joy, gladness, a feast, and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews, for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

    31To confirm these days of Purim in their appointed times, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had commanded them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their descendants, in matters of fasting and lamentation.

    32And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.
