7And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the Nethinims, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
25And you, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, set magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach those who do not know them.
26And whoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
27Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:
9For on the first day of the first month he began his journey from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
20And whatever more shall be needed for the house of your God, which you shall have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.
21And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the river, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
22Up to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred measures of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
13And on the second day, the heads of the fathers' houses of all the people, the priests, and the Levites gathered to Ezra the scribe to study the words of the law.
14And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths during the feast of the seventh month:
1And all the people gathered themselves together as one person in the street before the Water Gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2And Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly of men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.
3And he read from it in the street before the Water Gate from morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.
4And Ezra the scribe stood upon a wooden platform, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Urijah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchiah, Hashum, Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people stood up.
1Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and laying himself down before the house of God, a very large assembly of men, women, and children gathered to him out of Israel, for the people wept bitterly.
2And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra, We have sinned against our God and have taken foreign wives from the peoples of the land, yet now there is hope for Israel in this matter.
3Therefore, let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and their children, according to the advice of my lord and those who tremble at the command of our God. Let it be done according to the law.
4Arise, for this matter is your responsibility. We also are with you. Be strong and do it.
5Then Ezra arose and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel swear that they would do according to this word. And they swore.
6Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib. When he arrived there, he ate no bread and drank no water, for he mourned because of the transgression of those who had been taken captive.
7And they issued a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should gather at Jerusalem;
16So the descendants of the captivity did accordingly. And Ezra the priest, along with certain heads of the fathers' households, each of them by name, were designated, and they sat down on the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
1Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
28And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinims, and all those who had separated themselves from the people of the lands to the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone having knowledge and understanding;
29They joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and His judgments and His statutes;
9Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month. All the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter and because of the heavy rain.
10And Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, You have transgressed and have taken foreign wives, adding to the guilt of Israel.
11Now therefore make confession to the LORD, the God of your fathers, and do His will; separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign wives.
7Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites helped the people to understand the law; and the people stood in their place.
8So they read in the book of the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and helped them to understand the reading.
9And Nehemiah, who is the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.
4Moreover, he commanded the people who dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.
21And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

10Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us.
5And my God put into my heart to gather together the nobles, the rulers, and the people, that they might be registered by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of those who had come up at the first and found written in it,
12Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.
19That prepares his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.
9And he charged them, saying, This you shall do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
30Thus I cleansed them of everything foreign, and I assigned duties to the priests and the Levites, each to his service,
32Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;
1And when the seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one person to Jerusalem.
