1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,
2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
36 Now, indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
39 Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,
40 Entered the house of Zacharias, and greeted Elizabeth.
41 When Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
